Longlisted for the RTE Guide/Penguin Ireland Short Story Competition

Earlier this month I received the good news that I have been longlisted for the RTE Guide/Penguin Ireland Short Story Competition. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, I have been invited to attend a publishing workshop on 11th September. This has been very kindly arranged by the RTE Guide and Penguin Ireland.

There will be workshops on how to sell and market your book and the lineup of speakers is impressive to say the least. They range from published authors, to literary agents.

I am very happy to hear that Karen Gillece and Paul Perry will be there. They write under the name Karen Perry. Paul taught the poetry module on my MA in Creative Writing Course in UCD and he is an exceptional and gifted teacher and writer. He taught me so much over the past year about writing and I can’t wait to see him again.

Other speakers include Patricia Deevy who is the Editorial Director of Penguin Ireland, Sinead Moriarty the author and Faith O’Grady the literary agent to name but a few.

One of the things I am most looking forward to is meeting other writers. Many of them I know from Twitter and It will be great to finally get to meet them in person.

I am also looking forward to congratulating Pauline Clooney who was the overall winner of the competition and who also completed her MA in Creative Writing in UCD this year.
