Louise Phillips Book Club Evening at the Mansion House

During the Focal Literary Festival in June this year I hosted a panel discussion with Louise Phillips, Claudia Carroll, Rachael English and Carmel Harrington. Louise Phillips won the Bord Gais Energy Irish Crime Fiction Book of the Year award in 2013 for her second novel The Doll’s House.

Following on from the literary festival Louise contacted me and asked me to take part in an exclusive event in the historic Oak Room in the Mansion House in Dublin.

I interviewed Louise in front of an audience of eighty people at this invitation only event. Louise spoke openly and honestly about her experience of being a writer, and she read a section from her latest novel “The Game Changer” which was launched earlier in the week. The launch took place in the Gutter Book Shop, Temple Bar, and is already receiving critical acclaim from both critics and readers.

There were questions from the audience and Louise spoke very fondly of her publishers Hachette Ireland and Joanna from Hachette was there on the night.

Louise very kindly presented me with a bouquet of flowers and recalled her time spent in Enniscorthy at Focal Wexford Literary Festival which she described as a ‘wonderful literary event’.

The evening closed with a private reception in No.37 Dawson Street where refreshments were served and Louise signed copies of her latest novel. Gifts bags were presented to all who attended.
